Girl allegedly kidnapped, one man beaten at Jiribam

JIRIBAM, July 1:  A group of men believed to be a gang has allegedly kidnapped a 19 year old girl from her home on the pretext of recruitment for an insurgent outfit on June 29 while a man was severely beaten up by a group of unidentified person alleged to be security forces at different places of Jiribam sub division the next day.

The girl who lives with her mother at Ahmadabam Part 1, south of the Jiribam Police Station was allegedly kidnapped on June 29 around 9pm.

It is learnt that the act was carried out by a group of four individuals pretending to have small arms in their possession.

The miscreants had also threatened the mother not to inform the police or the security forces about the incident, informed a source.

When, the mother contacted her daughter through her mobile number, the mother was given contradicting answers. She was told that her daughter was in a camp of the IM; at Mutinagar, Cachar, Assam and in a jungle, informed the source.

Meanwhile, locals have informed that there are certain individuals in the locality who after forming a gang are carrying out such nefarious activities.

The mother has filed a complaint with the Jiribam Police Station and the Jiribam police have registered a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, in another incident, some persons in both camouflage and civil dress numbering around seven to eight severely assaulted one Minas Uddin (41),  son of (L) Feijur Rahman of Mullargaon village on June 30, 2013 at 12:30 am. He was taken to Jiribam Community Health Centre and later rushed to Silchar for further treatment.

Minas Uddin has filed a complaint to Jiribam Police Station and the Officer in Charge, L Khogen Singh of the Jiribam police station following which, a case has been registered in this regard.
