IMPHAL, July 27: The Maoist Communist Party has announced a general strike on August 5. The bandh will be effective from 5 am till 5 pm of the said date. The outfit`s Publicity Secretary , Nonglen Meitei in a press statement mentions that the stance has been adopted against the unethical stance of the Imphal Urban Co-Operative Bank officials and refusal to correct their system.
It said that students, media, medical and ceremonial purposes will be exempted from the bandh. The release also stated that if the IUCB officials relent and correct their ways, then the bandh may be lifted.
