IMPHAL, July 31: The Women Skill Development Centre (WSDC), Thoubal Wangkhem has today said in a press release that WSDC organised one day “National Environment Awareness Campaign” on the theme “Biodiversity Conservation” under the sponsorship of Ministry of Environment & Forest, Govt. of India and Directorate of Environment, Govt of Manipur on July 30, 2013 at Auditorium of APMARDS, Thoubal Wangkhem in presence of K Meghachandra Singh, Hon`ble Parliamentary Secretary (MI & IPR), Colonel Avneet Singh Kapoor, Commandant, 15 Assam Rifles, Thoubal, S Modhuchandra Singh, President WYC, Wangkhem, Major Mohit, Post Commander, 15 AR Yairipok and L Surjit Singh, Secretary, RSD Academy, Huidrom Leikai as the Chief Guest, Special Guest of Honour, President, Guest of Honour and Special Invitees respectively.

The Chief Guest, K Meghachandra Singh, Parliamentary Secretary (MI & IPR) opined his deep concern to protect the forest to maintain the ecological balance and Biodiversity Conservation. The energetic young mind of Manipur should take the responsibility of this procedure. The Special Guest of Honour, Colonel Avneet Singh Kapoor, Commandant, 15 Assam Rifles highlighted the needs of awareness to the youth and students about green revolution for biodiversity conservation and wished that may this State Manipur be forever a green State, it said.

As a part of sharing the responsibility, the Chief Guest, Special Guest of Honour and President led the trainees & participants on plantation of trees at Wangkhem Village, it said further.
