IMPHAL, July 27: Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, RK Mishra who will be representing the Soigupat and Laphupat Reconstruction Committee in a case against the Forest Department in a Supreme Court case regarding the decision of the Forest Department to takeover homestead land in and around the Soigupat and Laphupat areas for the extension of the Keibul Lamjao National Park, arrived in the state today.
Speaking to media persons, secretary of the committee N Shamungou lamented that local residents have been surviving by fishing in the area for long and following the forest department’s decision to acquire land for the expansion of the Keibul Lamjao National park, the committee had filed a case with the Supreme Court.
Senior Advocate RK Mishra will be representing the petitioners, he said.
