50 loaded tankers reach Imphal

    IMPHAL, August 5: Altogether 50 loaded oil tankers which were among the 214 loaded trucks which left Jiribam yesterday early morning reached Imphal this evening around 2.

    As informed by the All Manipur Petroleum Tankers and Drivers Union to the IFP, the 50 loaded oil tankers include 19 petrol tankers, 30 diesel tankers and one Kerosene tanker.

    The sources further informed that Imphal bound 82 oil tankers had left Jiribam yesterday which included 31 petrol tankers, 48 diesel tankers, two ATF tankers and one SK oil tanker.

    However, among the total 82 oil tankers, only 50 tankers have been able to reach Imphal while the remaining 32 loaded tankers are still stranded in places like Irang and Barak due to the bad condition of the road.

    The stranded tankers include 30 LPG bullet tankers, the sources said.

    On the other hand, several empty oil tankers are all set to leave Imphal today around 11.30 pm to fetch petroleum products along the Imphal-Dimapur road. The tankers will be escorted by CRPF personnel, the sources said.
