IMPHAL, August 1: The Special Court (ND & PS) has not heard the payer for leaving the state by one of the accused in the Pallel Drug seizure case, namely Army PRO Col Ajay Kumar Chowdhury. Col Ajay Chowdhury was remanded to judicial custody after his arrest on February 24 last, along with 6 others in regard with the Pallel drug seizure case.

He along with two others were released on bail on July 17 last by a court of Special Judge (ND & PS), Manipur.

He had further approached the court with a prayer for leaving the state, for which the hearing was held on July 27 last. However his prayer was rejected by the court.

He again approached the same court with a similar prayer on July 30, but the court instead of hearing his petition today kept it in abeyance.

It may be mentioned here that the state government challenging against the bail order of Special Judge (ND & PS) filed criminal revision petition at the High Court of Manipur on July 27 last.

At the hearing, the High court served him a ‘show cause notice’ on why his bail order should not be cancelled within two weeks time and also directed him not to leave the state.
