Complete JNIMS infrastructure constructions before MCI team arrival: CM

IMPHAL, August 31: State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today expressed unhappiness over the slow progress of the construction work of the administrative block at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

The Chief Minister accompanied by the concerned ministers and officials today inspected the ongoing construction of a ladies hostel, administrative block, a 100-beded ward and a bank counter at JNIMS, said a press statement of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Addressing the JNIMS staff at the hospital’s Conference Hall, he emphasized on the need for completion of the basic infrastructures of the hospital by December ahead of the proposed visit by a team of Medical Council of India (MCI) to the hospital in December or January next year.

He attracted the attention of the concerned authorities to complete the construction of the main structure by December and further expressed his unhappiness over the slow progress of construction work of the administrative block.

Plans to send teams of specialized doctors and staffs of the hospital to the far flung areas of the hill districts once a month to provide quality health care to the people are underway, the Chief Minister asserted.

O Ibobi Singh said that the state Govt has given efforts to procure vehicles for the medical teams and further pleaded to the doctors to execute their duties with devotion and dedication.

Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Principal Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Dr Suhel Akhtar, Principal Secretary Works Ram Muivah and Chief Engineer, Works accompanied the Chief Minister during his tour.
