IMPHAL, Aug 1: Today at 7:30 pm, a fire gutted three shops at Nambol Bazar along the Tiddim road at just 150 metres away from Nambol police station.
IFP affirmed one source that the shops are located opposite of the Manipur Rural Bank of the Nambol branch and are owned by one Toijam Meraton Singh. Out of the three shops, two were dealing in motor workshops while another one is selling motor parts along with petrol and diesel. However, the causes of the outbreak of the fire could not be established as a leaking gas cylinder was also found there.
After having learnt of the fire at 7:55 pm, a team of fire tender of the Imphal Fire Service comprising of three vehicles rushed to the spot. However, the fire situation demanded one more fire tender and a fourth fire tender also rushed to the spot, but three shops could not be saved from the fire while the remaining adjacent shops could be saved.
