Maoist observes `Red Day`

    IMPHAL, August 29: The proscribed Maoist Communist Party, Manipur has in a press statement signed by its Publicity and Propaganda secretary Nonglen Meitei said that the party observed its “Red Day” today in remembrance of its first martyr, Comrade Moirangthem Ibomcha at various locations.

    Ibomcha was killed in encounter with a commando team of Imphal East district police while going to a village located at Nongmaijing Ching to carry out a task assigned to him by the party during the formative period of the New People’s Militia (NPM), the release said.

    The Party’s former vice-president, (L) Ng Baite of Tupi Ching, Chandel district and commander Hijam Pritam of NPM were also honoured during the observation of Red day, it said.
