MK Das is new state DGP

IMPHAL, August 31: A 1977 batch IPS cadre (Manipur-Tripura) MK Das has been appointed as the new state DGP today after Yumnam Joykumar was relieved of the post following his retirement.

MK Das, IPS (MT:77), ADGP (Home Guard & Prison), Govt of Manipur shall look after the works of DGP, Manipur in addition to his normal duties wef August 31, 2013 (A/N) until regular arrangements are made in this regard, as per an official statement.

Mrinal Kanti Das, an MA by qualification is an IPS officer of the Manipur-Tripura Cadre (1977) appointed to IPS on November 19, 1978.

During his long year of service, the IPS officer has served with the Delhi police; Manipur police; Intelligence Bureau, GOI; and Public Sector Undertakings (both Central & State).

He has served as the ADGP, PHQ, & OSD, Home, Govt of Manipur, Imphal (2011-2012); Chief Vigilance Officer (ADGP)-ITI Ltd, Bangalore (a public sector undertaking of GOI) during 2008-2011; Director (Vigilance) (IGP-up to 2005, ADGP-since 2006), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, Vishakhapatnam (2002-2008);

He has also served as Project Director (IGP) Manipur Development Society, Imphal (2002-2003); IGP (Intelligence), Manipur, Govt of Manipur, Imphal (2000-2002); Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau, MHA, GOI, New Delhi (1997-2000); DIGP (CID/ Range/ Administration/ Training), Govt of Manipur, Imphal (1993-1997);

Deputy Director (DIGP), intelligence Bureau, MHA, GOI, New Delhi (1992-1993); Central Intelligence Officer/Assistant Director, Intelligence Bureau, MHA, GOI, New Delhi (1984-1992); CO, Manipur Rifles (1st & 2nd, Btns.), Govt of Manipur, Imphal (1983-1984); Superintendent of Police, West Dist, Tamenglong, Manipur (1981-1983); Sub Divisional Police Officer, Moirang & Bishnupur, Central District, Manipur (1980-1981); Asst Commissioner of Police, South & North, Delhi Police, New Delhi (1978-1980); IPS Trainee-SVP National Police Academy, Hyderabad (1977-1978).            

Meanwhile, according to an order issued today by Addl Secretary (Home) M Yaiskul Meitei; one section of armed escort, 8 house guards, one bullet proof Tata Safari, two Maruti Gypsy for security escorts will be provided to outgoing DGP Y Joykumar Singh for a period of one year.
