MPP visits Indo-Myanmar fencing area

    IMPHAL, Aug 1: The Manipur People’s Party has today said in a press release that a team of Manipur People’s Party comprising of 12 members had on July 31 visited the Indo-Myanmar fencing area at the border town Moreh and stationed there to take stock of the situation there arising out of the ongoing fencing works at the border town which is reported that a certain portion of Manipur’s land falls in the territory of Myanmar due to the fencing work.

    The visiting team first reached Gouvajang village and the team has come to know that half of the village is now inside the Myanmar territory while whole of the Molphei, village falls in the Myanmar territory. Beside this, a number of villages such as Moljang, Laiching, Yangoi, Bongyang and Nongtam will also fall inside Myanmar due to the fencing work of the Govt of India, it said.

    The visiting team of the Manipur People’s Party has today had a joint discussion at 1:00 pm with Hill Tribe Council along with village chiefs on the issue of border fencing.
