IMPHAL, August 2: The 4th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting, 2013 was held today at ICAR conference hall, ICAR RC Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ukhrul.
The meeting was conducted on two agendas – discussion/study on last year report and discussion on upcoming 2013-14 plans of KVK, Ukhrul.
Dr AK Trivadhi, Nodal Officers KVKs, ICAR Umiam, Meghalaya; Narendra Prakash, Joint director ICAR Lamphelpat & Dr M Premjit Singh, Director of CAU attended as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Around 50 individuals including 14 farmers, 3 members of NGOs, DLO, Joint Director state veterinary, District Fishery Officer, Horticulture Officer of Ukhrul district, ICAR scientist and other staffs of ICAR Lamphelpat attended the function.
At the end of the meeting, an interaction program for the farmers, NGOs and KVKs official was also conducted.
During the interaction program, Pemichon Tungshang, Langdang Ukhrul, Co-ordinator Khokharin SHG said that mostly farmers are uneducated.
They need more training for KVKs plans and programs, he said.
One of the farmers while speaking about the degenerating Yongchak and orange trees in Kachai area said the farmers believed that it is mostly due to the climatic change.
