IMPHAL, August 2: Police continued its security measuresin Imphal for the upcoming Independence Day celebration.
A team of Imphal West district police led by Dy SP (Commando) S Ibomcha conducted cordon and search operation here at Paona Bazar and nearby areas today around 2 pm.
Speaking to the media, Dy SP (Commando) S Ibomcha said that the cordon and search operation was conducted as a part of security measure ahead of the 15 August Independent Day celebration.
During the search operation, persons who did not have proper identification proof were detained for verification and some of them were handed over to the City police station for proper verification, the police officer said.
The police officer appealed to the general public to carry their identification proof along with them when they come out from home to avoid the inconveniences and also appealed to extend co-operation to the police while they perform their duties.
