IMPHAL, August 21: The Session Court of Manipur East, Manipur West and Thoubal will work as Children’s Courts to try offences against children and violation of child rights within the local limits of their territorial jurisdiction, said an order signed by Law Secretary, Govt of Manipur provided to the media houses by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The order further mentioned that the offences against children of the territorial jurisdiction of Imphal East, Imphal West and Ukhrul district will be tried in the Session Court, Manipur East which is known as Children’s Court, Manipur East.
Likewise, the districts of Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong and Senapati will be tried in the Session Court, Manipur West which is known as Children’s Court while those for the district of Thoubal will be tried in the Session Court, Thoubal which is known as Children’s Court, Thoubal.
The press release further said that the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights appreciats the initiative of the State Govt for issuing the order in the interest of child rights.
