UPRF cadres nabbed while trying to smuggle illegal drugs

IMPHAL, August 1: The three individuals who were apprehended by a team of 40 Assam Rifles, Lilong post yesterday at around 9.45 pm along with demand letters of United People Revolutionary Front (UPRF), ephedrine contained tablets, Rs 70 thousand in cash and one 9mm pistol were handed over to the Lilong police today.

The three, along with the seized items were produced before the media today morning at Lilong police station.

According to the police, the three cadres of UPRF were apprehended by a team of 40 Assam Rifle, Lilong post during frisking/checking at Sangomsang along National Highway Number 2 (Imphal-Moreh Road) yesterday at around 9.45 pm.

They came in a Hyundai Santro car silver colour bearing registration number MN-O4A-5361 from Imphal direction and were heading towards Moreh, police said.

The seized items were found inside the said car during the checking of the car by the Assam Rifles, police said.  

The three arrested persons have been identified as Md Sher Khan (22), and his younger brother Md Adbur Rehaman (21), son of Abdul Khalique, of Sangai Yumphai Puleipokpi and Md Abash Khan (24), son of Ayub Khan, of Moreh Ward No 5.

The seized items from the possession of the three persons include one 9mm pistol with one live round, three live rounds for 303 Rifle, two extortion note of UPRF, 1420 strips of Actione BR tablets, five strips of Actidier, 18 strips of Aripien, 193 strips of Endocol, Rs 70 thousand in cash, two mobile phones along with two SIM cards and one Hyundai Santro MN-04A-5361, police said.

Police further said that the three were arrested while they were trying to smuggle the illegal tablets to Moreh.
