Bishnupur police observes teachers` day

BISHNUPUR, Sept 5:  Bishnupur district police today observed teacher’s day celebration 2013 at Ibudhou Mayangamba Haraobung Sanglen near the district police headquarters.

Kh Punilkanta former cabinet minister, Th Radheshyam superintendent of police of the district, Dr W Gulapi retired CMO Bishnupur, M Rameswar DSP (Ops) of the district and K Bheirop Sharma retired ZEO graced the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Among the special invitees, O Tombi Ex Councilor of Bishnupur Municipal Council said that this was the first in the district to celebrate teachers’ day organised by the police organisation and continued that it will bring a good future between public and police.

In his deliberations, Dr Gulapi expressed that teachers’ day celebration was not observed for the last many years. In this regard, he opined that this has created a lack of good relationship between students and teachers.

Dr Gulapi further asserted that the observance of teachers’ day by the district police is an innovative idea. He continued that this is like the candle alighted one after another so that it goes on forever while the candle itself diminishes to make the world alighted.

Kh Punilkanta stressed in his speech that the program is impressive which was participated by both hill and valley people.

M Rameswar, DSP (Ops) of the Bishnupur district said during the function that teachers have great role in nurturing students as that of a peanut growing in the soil with care and reap properly.

Th Radheshyam, SP of the district asserted in his presidential speech that juvenile crimes are increasing in India and also in Manipur. They are engaging in such activities of sending demand letters and sex related crimes.

Considering all this, Bishnupur police in a meeting decided to organise teachers’ day because teachers are most important in guiding the students in proper way and also helpful to the parents. The SP further said that teachers have to play a great role in moulding and inspiring the minds of students.

In order to organise teachers’ day, he asserted, the district police officials have contributed money from their own salaries. He also said that the observance teachers’ day is significant because he came to know from the sharing the public today that there is gap between the police and public. He further said that the police organisation will learn from their mistakes.

As part of the observance, presentations were distributed to selected teachers from different six police stations including Heirok. Media persons were also feted today.
