Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar laments lack of facilities at Ukhrul hospital

UKHRUL, September 11: During his maiden visit to Ukhrul District today, Dr Ashwani Kumar the Governor of Manipur and Nagaland observed that the Ukhrul District Hospital has only `minimal facilities`.

He was on a visit to oversee the condition of the Ukhrul district hospital.

The Governor listened to the grievances and problems highlighted during an interaction session with staff of the hospital who

highlighted several problems faced by them.

Armstrong Pamei (IAS), ADC Ukhrul pointed out that the “Power crisis” in the district wherein the people are getting a minimal five hours of power supply in a day reciprocates to a grave concern and problem for the people, particularly in the operation procedures of the district hospital.

The Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner, Dr SK Chaurasia also emphasized on the existing conditions of staff quarters for doctors and nurses while CMO, Dr Ngampam Raikhan explained that most doctors, nurses and staff are staying at their private residences or rented houses due to the lack of government quarters in the hospital.

The CMO also highlighted the crisis of electricity power supply in the hospital that has left the X-ray department non-functional for the last many years.

The Governor talked about the people of Ukhrul and elaborated on the unique culture, tribe and hard-working nature of the people and observed that the people require more attention.

The Governor also visited the new under construction Ukhrul district Hospital at Hundung. The Governor of Manipur and Nagaland, Dr. Ashwani Kumar with his wife Chandan Aishwani were accompanied by Manipur State Dy Speaker, MK Preshaw and Parliamentary Secretary, Victor Keishing on his maiden visit.
