Health awareness campaign held at Tamenglong

    IMPHAL, September 26: A health awareness campaign on implementation of Janani Shuraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), strengthening immunization, importance of breast feeding and other related convergent health programmes such as Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTP), National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) and National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) organized by the District Health Mission Society (DHMS) under the leadership of Dr Chambo Gonmei, CMO/District Mission Director, Tamenglong was held at PHC Haochong, PHC Noney, Khundong village and PHSC Nurathel in Tamenglong District from September 23-25.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dr Azin Maringmei, DMO/Tamenglong stated that anti-malarial drugs and testing kits are available now but the insecticide treated bed nets will be getting shortly adding that shortage of Microscopists at PHC Tamei, PHC Tousem and PHC Haochung has reduced the examination of blood for MPs.

    Dr Chambo Gonmei, CMO/District Mission Director also spoke on new schemes and guidelines of JSY, JSSK and the importance of immunization of pregnant mothers and children against the six killer diseases namely TB, Poliomyelitis, Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertusis and Measles.

    Taking part in the programme, Dr Jendum Golmei, MO i/c, PHC Haochung also spoke on the importance of breast feeding.
