IMPHAL, September 5: The Khangshim Village Authority, Chandel District has expressed serious concern regarding the recent show cause notice served on August 31 last passed under Section 133 CrPC by the SDM Kakching, Thoubal District to the bonafide householders of the Khangshim village who have been residing in the village by paying annual hill house tax since 1975 as a recognised village under SDM, Machi, Chandel District.

In a statement, the village authority said the villagers have their due share in allotment of the village land within the village jurisdiction and none of the villagers encroach the NH 39. As all the villagers are within the perimeter of the village, there is no State Sarkari Khas Land within the Khnagshim Village under the revenue district of Chandel within 42-Tengnoupal A/C.

“The recent seven days show caused notice served is against tribal customary land law and any other existing laws of the land. It was served without any consultation or any free, prior and informed consent of the villagers and bypassed the Village Authority. And, such one week notice issued by SDM Kakching, Thoubal District to villagers who are under the jurisdiction of the SDM, Machi, Chandel District is uncalled for,’’ it stated.

The statement further appealed to ensure peace and security in the village, protect and promote human rights and prevent any public nuisance to the peace loving tribal villagers in the days to come.
