Another loaded truck damaged during Jiri bandh

JIRIBAM, October 22: As announced earlier that vehicles which found plying along the NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) during its course of indefinite economic blockade will be dealt with serious consequences, volunteers of AMSU District Committee, MSF Special Branch Jiribam, DESAM Local Council Jiribam and KSA Jiribam Unit has reportedly ransacked a Tata truck loaded with essential commodities bearing registration AS OIY 8253 at a place near Sorok Atingbi Khunou under Jiribam sub-division this evening around 4.15 pm.

Meanwhile, while terming the incident where Officer-in-charge of Leingangpokpi Outpost Police Station tried to arrest its volunteers as unfortunate, the four students ’ unions has appealed security personnel deployed in Jiribam not to arrest its volunteers.

The students’ unions said the role of teachers in ensuring quality education is of paramount importance and added that there should be also proper existence of schools with adequate infrastructures and facilities in all the institutes under Jiribam.

“Since the demands which we are demanding are of genuine ones, the unions expect full co-operation from security forces stationed in the sub-division,’’ it pointed out.

The students’ unions further appealed to all transporters and vehicle owners not to ply any type of vehicles during its call of total bandh along the highway instead extend support to its stir.
