Death toll rises to 3

IMPHAL, October 31:  One of the person who was injured in yesterday’s bomb blast at Moirangkhom succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll in the incident to three.

The third victim, van owner L Rajen, died at the Intensive Care Unit of Shija Hospital at around 4.30 pm today. His body has been transferred to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences for post mortem examination.

Forty-eight year old Rajen of Kakwa Naorem Leikai had received serious injuries in his head and back.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the two van drivers, L Brojen of Andro and Holnung Tholthang of Bijang, who passed away yesterday, have been handed over to the family members after post mortem examinations at RIMS morgue. The bodies were kept at Moreh van parking at Moirangkhom at around noon for a brief period where members of van association and other individuals paid floral tributes.   

Members of association of vans plying along Imphal-Moreh, All Manipur Motor Road Transport and Drivers’ Union, family members and residents from the localities of the two deceased today staged a sit-in-protest at Moirangkhom Moreh Van Parking. The protest was organised by the JAC Imphal-Moreh Road Transporters and Drivers’ Union and demanded clarification within three days from the group behind exploding the bomb at a crowded place.
