Deskumar`s last minute header clinches three points for MPSC

    IMPHAL, October 14: Manipur Police Sporting Club came back from a goal deficit and scored in the last minute of regular time to snatch a 2-1 win from United Sports Association, Khurai.

    In a tantalizing end to a well-fought out match, Khem Bahadur dropped an aerial ball into the penalty box which was headed into the net by striker N Deskumar in the 90th minute of the match.

    With this win, MPSC leaped into the 7th position after the end of sixth round of the Manipur State League. The tournament is being organized by the All Manipur Football Association.

    USA made a strong start in the match and eventually opened its account in the 41st minute when O Premeshwor converted a penalty awarded for a foul committed on K Phalguni by Benjamin Kamson.

    The match took an interesting turn in the second half as the policemen made several forays into their rival’s goalmouth.

    In the 52nd minute, MPSC found the equalizer following a fruitful culmination of a combination between K Premchand, Bahadur and Deskumar with the last, making the final touch.

    Ksh Kanta Singh and K Premkumar, both of MPSC, were shown yellow card in the 20th and 59th minute of the match. At the same time, Cleaven Hmar and N Radhakanta of the losing team got cautioned in the 19th and 80th minute respectively.

    There will be no match tomorrow.
