Guv, CM greet on Id-ul-Zuha

IMPHAL, Oct 15: Manipur Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar has extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur especially to the Muslim brethren on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.

In his message, the Governor said the Id-ul-Zuha, the “festival of sacrifice” embodies the spirit of sacrifice overcoming ones’ ego and narrow self-interest for the larger good and signifies unity, brotherhood, harmony and peace amongst the different communities.

State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has also conveyed his warm greetings to the people of the state especially to Muslim community on the joyous occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.

In a statement, the CM said the Id-ul-Zuha epitomizes the noble values of sacrifice for the sake of mankind leaving aside one’s narrow and selfish interests adding that the joy of sharing and charity associated with the festival promotes the feeling of compassion and love to serve the poor and the needy.

“May this festival inspire us to sacrifice our selfish interests in the larger interest of the state and unite us all in a spirit of common brotherhood for a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur,” the CM wished in the statement.  

The Jana Dal (United), Manipur State in a press statement has conveyed its warm greetings to Muslim brethren on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha and wished for peaceful co-existence and unity amongst the different communities with the arrival of the festival.
