NCP state president meets Praful Patel on border issue

    IMPHAL, October 1: The president of NCP Manipur State and Keishamthong MLA Laishom Ibomcha Singh, along with C Doungel, ex- Finance Minister and Praful Patel, Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha and in-charge North Eastern States for NCP discussed the burning and crucial issues of the missing original boundary pillars along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur which has allowed the new boundary fencing to encroach more than 10 kilometres upon the territory of Manipur resulting in a serious dispute between the two countries, informed a press release of the NCP.

    The discussion was held at MNC Bhawan, Guwahati on September 29, 2013 at 2.30 pm, said the release.

    The Union Minister was assured that he would definitely lobby the matter with the Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and other concerned Union Ministers in the interest of the people of Manipur so that any land of Manipur is not conceded to Myanmar, it said.

    He had further added that the boundary of Manipur should be protected after observing internationally agreed norms of “No Man`s Land”, the release said.

    L Ibomcha Singh also handed over a memorandum on behalf of the NCP and people of Manipur to the Union Minister.
