Medical assessment camp highlights necessity of good health

KANGPOKPI, November 2: A one-day medical assessment camp was conducted under Saitu Gamphojol Block at CC Hall, Gamnom Sapormeina today by the office of the Deputy Inspector of Schools, Saitu-Gamphajol, Sadar Hills, Manipur under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

The camp was formally opened by Seikholet Singsit, deputy inspector of schools/DDO, Gamnom Sapormeina who attended the function as chief guest.

More than 50 patients from different places availed themselves of the facilities provided during the camp.

Prof M Akshay Kumar Singh, Clinical Psychologist, CMC Koirengei; Dr Dhruti Sundar Das, orthoptist, ALIMCO, Guwahati; Dr Anup Jyoti Sharma, Audiologist, ALIMCO, Guwahati; Dr Kh Rajen Singh, Ophthalmologist, Bishnupur Hospital; Hamom Maria, Special Teacher, MR and L Preeti, Inclusive Education Care Giver have wholeheartedly engaged in examining the patients.

Speaking at the opening of the camp, Seikholet Singsit emphasised on the importance and necessity of good health amongst the young learners as well as their parents and guardians in children’s educational career.

“When students are physically and mentally not well it will be wrong on the part of their parents to hope big from their wards. Likewise, when the parents too are not physically as well as mentally well enough it will be very much difficult to support their children in their educational career”, asserted the DIS/DDO, adding that good education is not enough to make the society develop, it also needs good health which gives sound mind and body.

Considering the importance of good health amongst the school going children and their parents, the office of the deputy inspector of schools, Saitu Gamphajol is taking the initiatives under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in organizing this camp, added Singsit. He made an appeal to make Saitu Gamphajol block physically, mentally, educationally and economically well.
