JIRIBAM, February 8: The 36th foundation day of the All Assam Manipur Students’ Union (AAMSU), Assam was held today Bir Tikendrajit ME School, Ithola in Silchar today.
The president of the union Seram Herajit Singh also hoisted the union’s flag.
AAMSU’s president Seram Herajit Singh, Manipuri Benevolent Society’ general secretary K Gulapi Singh, AAMSU’s general secretary L Seityajit Singh, AAMSU’s ex-general secretary Monindro Singh, Bir Tikendrajit ME Schools’ head master and AAMSU’s legal advisor H Babu Singh attended the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Addressing the function as chief guest, K Gulapi Singh said that the union has seen several ups and downs, however, with the able leaderships at the helm of things, the union has always come out.
The strengthening of the union lies in the hands of the leaders, he observed.
He further observed that it is impossible to move towards development without the help of the people.
He also appealed to the gathering for unity and cooperation.
In his presidential speech, Seram Herojit mentioned that the Manipuris in Assam is in a critical condition today.
He said he will try to strengthen AAMSU by opening district branches.
He also lauded the government of Assam for inclusion of Manipuri language in the typesetting of TET examination of the state.
He further expressed his concerns over the recent incidents in the national capital Delhi against the north eastern students and people.
He condemned the death of Nido Tania and said that AAMSU will launch a movement for it and submit a memorandum to the government of India.
