Indefinite cease work strike postponed: AMTUC AMGEO

IMPHAL, March 21: A press meet was held on March 21 at the office of Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGIO) at Babupara in relation with the visit of senior vice chairman of All India State Government Employees Federation, Sukomal Sen.

Speaking to the media, secretary general of AMTUC and AMGEO said that their indefinite cease-work strike scheduled on March 6 has been postponed due to the model code of conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha election. He said that during a meeting with chief minister O Ibobi on March 20, some positive response to fulfill some of their demands and an agreement to hold discussion on the first week of June were arrived on.

Sukomal Sen said that many parts of the country have implemented Sixth Central Pay Commission along with all its benefits but it was still not implemented in Manipur.

The senior trade union leader also said that a continuous struggle to fulfill the demand was needed to alleviate people’s miseries.

Meanwhile, AMTUC and AMGEO have submitted the 13 list of demands to the government of Manipur.
