IMPHAL, April 28: The All Tribal Student’s Union Manipur (ATSUM) has written a memorandum to AICC chief, Sonia Gandhi, demanding the immediate removal of Abdul Nasir, from his post as minister alleging him of racially misbehaving against a tribal officer.

A press conference was convened at Nagaram ATSUM office today in connection to the incident wherein, ATSUM president, Muan Tombing vehemently condemned the act.

He threatened that the students’ body will resort to take up intense form of agitation if the authority concerned does not response positively.

Tombing alleged that the inhuman attitude was meted out towards the ZEO/DPO of Thoubal district, on April 24, 2014 at around 5:30 pm.

On the said day, in compliance to a mobile call from the Agriculture minister Abdul Nasir, the ZEO went to the official quarter of the Minister, he said.

The ZEO was checked by the minister’s security guards in the presence of workers and ushered into a room, he continued.

After a short while the minister entered the room and immediately asked the ZEO/DPO about his identity, he informed.

Further continuing, Tombing said on disclosing his (ZEO) identity, the minister asked whether the School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) of the Leiphrakpam Laishram Mamang Leikai Primary School, Lilong Thoubal district was approved by the ZEO/DPO.

When the ZEO admitted of giving the approval, the minister allegedly hurled intolerable and racially discriminating words (Slangs) at him and attempted to physically assault the ZEO with his fist, he alleged.

Moreover, Tombing further alleged that the minister went on to accuse the ZEO of not being fit enough to be holding his post in Thoubal district.

Nasir also reportedly charged the ZEO/DPO that he should obey and follow his instruction and not the rule and guidelines of SSA issued by the union Ministry of Human Resource Development government of India and any subsequent guidelines or instruction issued by the State Mission Authority, SSA Manipur, he continued.

Later the minister ordered the ZEO to file a FIR to the police against the members of SMDC of Laiphrakpam Laishram Mamang Leikai primary school, Lilong slapping an allegation against them of taking his (ZEO) signature on gun point by hiring underground elements.

The ATSUM president opined that that the minister has acted as a ruler rather than as a minister.

Asserting that the ‘insane acts’ of the minister has initiated a deep resentment amongst the tribal people of Manipur, the ATSUM president demanded the immediate removal of the minister.
