IMPHAL, April 17: The secretary information and publicity T Pumkhanlian of the Churachandpur District Student Union (CDSU) issued a press release on Thursday that the union strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing at Old Bazaar by unknown gunmen which had seriously injured Letkhotinthang Haokip, son of Thangsei Haokip, a resident of T Champhai who was referred to Imphal for further treatment.
A press release said that CDSU is shocked to learn that the ambulance that ferried the victim was being questioned on the way to Imphal by SDPO Moirang PS which delayed one hour in reaching Imphal.
The press release further stated that ‘as if it was not enough, the driver of the ambulance was thrashed by the SDPO’s team which was eased only when the Ccpur SDPO intervened.”
Meanwhile, the Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO), too, strongly condemned the act of policemen at Moirang and said that they are taking the matter seriously.
