PREPAK greets on May Day

IMPHAL, April 30: The proscribed People`s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak has greeted the people of Manipur on May Day, in a statement signed by LeibakNgakpaLuwang, Assistant Secretary, Publicity and Propaganda of the party.

The party pays its tribute to those martyrs who lost their lives in the workers` movement which took place in America and Europe in the 19th Century.

The condition of the toiling masses of this land has become so miserable that it seems there is no future left for them in the present juncture. Under the colonial rule the wretchedness of the life of the working people has been continuing, said the statement.

The party asserts that the present condition will continue as long as the working people are forced to meet the unlimited greed of the imperialist forces. This could be overcome when the land and its working people are freed from the colonial yoke.

There is no future for the working people as long as they remained colonised. In this backdrop, those workers who are employed by the oppressor have become an agent who steals from their own backyard. The self-pride that the working

people of the land once had has been lost. They have become a part of the `Corporation`, which the coloniser use as a tool for exploitation, said the statement.

The statement further maintained that the working people are being exploited by not giving their due wages and salary. Thereby the toiling people who are at the lower rug of the society are not able to meet the basic requirement in health-care, education and social security.

PREPAK in the statement has further maintained that the present condition is nothing but the continuation of British colonialism. What is even more unfortunate is the bleak future of the indigenous people. Jobs like pulling cart and rickshaw, cobbler, hair cutting has been snatched away by the people from outside from the hands of the indigenous people. Besides, the vendors are being driven from a one place to another by the agents who are paid by the colonisers.

The united struggle of the people against colonialism is the only way to come out of this misery, the statement added.
