IMPHAL May 7: KK Nganba, chairman of the KCP (KK Nganba faction), has clarified that P Ricky who was arrested with a demand letter is not related to the group.
In a press conference at the Manipur Press club today, Chairman Nganba said his group don’t indulge in monetary demands.
He attended the conference along with B Lakhikumar, the outfit’s adminstrative officer; and deputy leader of the group’s army, Major Ibochouba.
Briefing the media, Chairman KK Nganba said his group is in the process of joining a peace process by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the State and Central government after his release from Sajiwa Central Jail.
It is unfortunate that a press release from the PRO of the state police department published widely in local dailies has stated that two cadres of KCP (Nganba faction), Paonam Ricky alias Sana alias Tutu, 23, son of P Mohen of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak Leirembi Maning staying presently at Taothong Mamang Leikai and Taorem Gourashyam alias Ranjit, son of T Indramani of Patsoi part –IV, were arrested by a team of Bishnupur Police on May 4 along with a demand latter, he said.
He continued that among the two persons arrested P Ricky is not a party cadre and is not related in any which way to their group, adding that the party has nothing to do with the demand note in his possession.
“T Gourashyam who was arrested by the Bishnupur police is a party cadre and his arrest as a follow up action after the arrest of P Ricky with a demand letter is not reasonable,” he said while appealing for the release of Gourashyam who is cadre of a group involved in a peace process.
Meanwhile, admintrative officer B Lakhikumar said the group has expelled 16 cadres who disobeyed the principal rules and regulations of the group.
