MSAP against racial profiling

IMPHAL, May 30: The recent series of incidents of assaults, molestation as well as racial discrimination against the people from the north-eastern states in the major cities where a good numbers of students and working professional are populated has largely affected to the students communities said Anthony Moirangthem, president, Manipur Students’ Association of Pune (MSAP) speaking to the media the Manipur Press Club, today. Anthony said that they have submitted a memorandum on May 19 to the Governor of Manipur, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Education minister in this regard. He further said that MSAP strongly appealed to the authorities concerned of the Manipur state Government and Central Government to take immediate steps in the major cities to end the racial discrimination and take serious action against racial labeling. He opined that the history and unique culture of the northeast should be included at the school level education curriculum of other states and central boards. He further maintained that due to the law and order situation in the state there has been mass exodus of the students to other states. In this regard there is need for hostels, particularly for working women professionals with proper security, he added.
