IMPHAL, September 27: The JAC formed in connection with the alleged killing of Serakhatun Bibi imposed 48 hours State-wide general strike affected only Hiyangthang area.
Serakhatu Bibi alias Imaton, 55 who had gone missing since September 19 evening was found dead and tied to a log in the Nambul River at Irom Meijrao Maning Leikai on September 21.
The strike which was started from this morning affected vehicular movement in the Hiyanglam area.
Bandh supporters came out stopped vehicles, while allowing only those on emergency duties.
Sources also said that relatives of the accused who were present till the morning of fateful day are absconding.
JAC convenor Md Sahiruddin said since the prime suspect is not yet booked by the State forces, the JAC and locals will only intensify the agitation against the State government.
It may be mentioned that the accused identified as Abdul Kadir alias Amuthi is also still absconding.
