BJP gets film personalities to campaign in Hiyanglam

IMPHAL, October 11: With just about a week before the Hiyanglam by-poll, campaigning has picked up in the constituency and is expected to grow stronger.

The State BJP unit high on hopes in the aftermath of the party`™s whopping national win in the 2014 Lok Sabha election is also leaving no stone unturned to win its first seat in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly and prove itself before the Modi government in the centre.

The last Sunday before the October 17 by-poll will witness the BJP campaign supported by film personalities and the Manipur Trinamool Congress Committee organise a public meeting for its candidate Dr Yumnam Radheshyam.

BJP is fielding Maibam Dhanabir, son of ex- MLA Maibam Kunjo of the Trinamool Congress, as its candidate.

The Manipur Pradesh BJP has roped in the film fraternity to campaign for its candidate of the October 17 Hiyanglam by-poll.

The film industry team led by singer Naba will be performing at road shows on Sunday starting from 10:30 am.

The road shows which are part of the party`™s campaign for its candidate Maibam Dhanabir will be launched tomorrow 10:30am.

The campaign is taken under the initiative of the BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary media affairs Laimayum Basanta and administration M Asnikumar.

Basanta said the actors and actresses of the Manipuri film industry led by singer Naba Volcano will be participating in the road show campaign

While talking with the in-charge of the road show Laimayum Basanta Sharma said that the road show campaign will present various films Actor and Actress of the Manipur Film.

He said the party is receiving support from the film lovers and artists of the State.

The recent budget presented by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley reflected on the earmarked special packages for the North East region which include opening of a sports university and a film institution in the region, he said.

At the same time, the assurance given by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar to open a Film Institute in the State seems to have gone down well with the film fraternity, he claimed.

On the other hand the MPTCC public meeting at the Langmeidong public ground will be attended by Rajya Sabha MP Md Nadimul Huque and Lok Sabha MP Dr Anupam Hajra.

The party`™s national chip whip in Rajya Sabha and spokesperson Derek O`™ Brien was supposed to attend the meeting, however he had to cancel it due to some unavoidable circumstances, informed a party source.

The meeting will start in the afternoon at 1.
