IMPHAL, October 24: Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR established vehicle check posts at Khudengthabi and Sita road junction and apprehended two individuals along with contraband drugs on October 22.
A PRO IGAR (s) press release identified the two persons identified as Namem Haokip, 30, wife of Ngangbam Haokip of Moreh Ward no 7 and Kethabi, 32, wife of (L) L Tombisana Singh of Kwatha Mathak Leikai, Moreh, Chandel.
Around 150 gm of heroin (approx. cost Rs 60 lakh), a mobile phone and Rs 6,200/- were recovered from Namem Haokip and 1445 nos of SP tablets, 78 numbers of Nitrozepam tablets and a voter identity card were recovered from Kethabi, it said.
The apprehendees have been handed over to the Moreh and Tengnoupal Police Station, it said.
