Ebola suspect tourist officially discharged

IMPHAL, Oct 8: Japanese tourist Kawakubo Yuko, 27 years, who was admitted at JNIMS and kept in its Isolation Ward on October 5 after showing symptoms similar to those displayed by Ebola patients, was discharged today.

Speaking to IFP at around 2 pm, staffs of the Special ward where she has been undergoing treatment said: `She was officially discharged by the doctors who have been treating her. All the results of the tests conducted to check whether she had Ebola were negative and her body temperature was significantly normal.`

However, she hasn`™t left the hospital yet as doctors await some medicines which remains to be injected to her. She will be injected with the medicines as soon as the medicines arrive, they said.

She will be handed over to the staffs of the Classic Hotel who will come to receive her, the staffs added.

Yuko was on en route to Nagaland from Tamu in Myanmar when she checked in at Hotel Classic for a stopover in Imphal on October 3. She received initial treatment at Raj Medicity after suffering from high fever on the night of October 4 and was later kept at the Isolation Ward of JNIMS from October 5.
