IMPHAL, October 2: The Komrem Chief Welfare Association congratulated MC Mary Kom on her winning gold in boxing at the
Asian Games held at Incheon, South Korea.
In a press release, it has also extended gratitude to the State Chief Minister and the State cabinet for their support and encouragement to sportspersons, especially in allotting land to the Boxing Academy run by Mary Kom at the National Games Village Langol and for providing the pugilist with a service in the State Home department.
Furthermore, the association also strongly condemned that another pugilist from the State L Sarita Devi was shown injustice in her semi-final bout during the Asian Games.
It has been appealed to the both the government and the concerned federation to kindly consider the matter seriously as such incidents could demoralise the sportspersons in the future, it said.
