Teacher of Keirao School found drawing one year`s salary in absentia

IMPHAL, October 19: Locals of Keirai Bitra has come down heavily on alleged absence of a teacher of Keirao Bitra Primary High School, but enjoying monthly salary for almost a year, has urged the concerned authority to ban his salary.

According to a highly reliable source, the teacher has been identified as Khaba Irom of Iroishemba Imphal. It said the teacher was posted to the said Primary school on September 26, 2012 under Sarva Shikshya Abhiyan.

The source continued that according to the teachers`™ attendance register of the school, Khaba was found absent from duty since November 2012 to December 2013, he attended school for only 12 days in the same period, but took salary for one whole year.

Further the source revealed that the said teacher used to attend school only during the time of salary release. With the State government recently giving nod for salary release ahead of the Ningol Chakouba festival, the teacher once turned up at the school and allegedly threatened the headmistress of the school to issue duty certificate, so that he can get salary.

The source further continued that the teacher had allegedly threatened the headmistress in the past for not issuing duty certificate, and had warned of dare consequences, which had caused severe mental harassment to the later and her family members.

The school management committee and the headmistress had earlier lodged complaint with the ZEO for taking action against the said teacher, however, the concerned authority had failed to take any action, added the source.

It has also been learnt that one Assistant Inspector of School, identified as Mangi Singh has been allegedly favouring the said teacher, instead of taking up disciplinary action, informed the source.

In this regard, having heard the news of the threat meted to the headmistress, a public meeting was held today at the premise of the school, with Keirao GP pradhan Mutum Romeshchandra Singh in the chair, attended by members of local club and meira paibees.

The meeting urged the concern authorities to ban the salary of the said teacher, and suspend the AI posted at the ZEO II office for dereliction of duty.
