IMPHAL, Nov 24: The 28th Manipur University Inter College Youth Festival was inaugurated today at the Centenary Hall, Manipur University organised by the Manipur University Cultural Committee.
The festival is being held under the theme `Youth for Nation Building`™ and will conclude on November 26.
Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof. HNK Sarma and Manipur University Dean of Students Welfare Prof. RK Hemakumar Singh attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
As part of the inaugural function, the 28th Manipur University Inter College Youth Festival 2014 souvenir was also released.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Prof HNK Sharma said he was looking forward to the participation of college students in the youth festival.
He said altogether 26 colleges are taking part in the festival with 665 students participating in various fields of arts, culture, sports and other extra-curricular activities.
Students who excel in the festival will get the opportunity to participate in the East Zone youth festival and inter-university festival, he continued.
He also expressed that Inter College Youth Festival will provide a platform for interaction among the youths of the different communities in the field of dance, fine arts, music, theatre etc. He wished all the participating students good luck in showcasing their performances and talents.
