IMPHAL, November 09: Monitoring the influx of migrants in the State, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) today continued with its survey of non-Manipuris at the Mini Indoor Stadium in Lalambung Makhong which also acts as a community hall. The survey was conducted jointly by the volunteers of Echel Club, Lalambung Development Committee, Lalambung Youth Voluneer Association and a survey team of the JCILPS.
During the survey, numerous non-locals were found in possession of fake documents such as electoral cards and driving licences.
Other surveys were also conducted today at the Uripok Gopalji Leirak Youths’ Association and Khurai Ahongei.
One of the volunteers of the survey team said that the survey was being carried out to detect illegal migrants in the State. He continued that the survey was in fact being conducted for the safeguard of the non- locals who legally migrated into the State in search of a means of livelihood.
