IMPHAL, Nov 3: Expr-essing profound remembrance on the 11th death anniversary of Baby (Late) Lungnila Elizabeth, the Maram Students’ Union, MSU of Manipur has maintained that the incident is a gloomy reminder that women and children are often target of violence in the State.

According to a statement, the incident of Lungnila had shocked everyone, especially mothers and children. It said the bitter experience united the people cutting across boundaries, religions and ethnic groups in condemning the barbaric act.

It continued that hundreds of women and children regularly face such social atrocities. The unfortunate thing is, their silence is assumed as weakness by anti-social elements, it added.

Further the statement said the anniversary should be a constant reminder of the need to break free from the past of hatred and violence and ensure that women and children have every right to live with full dignity and respect.

The MSU annually organises MKS-Lungnila meritorious awards in her memory, it added.
