IMPHAL, Nov 7: A 52 year old man, identified as Yumnam Shanta, son of (L) Y Modhu of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai under Singjamei Police Station died yesterday evening at around 6 in a road accident.
Sources said, Shanta, who came riding on a Bazaj Pulsar motorcycle, registration number MN01C – 9445, had a head on collision with one Tata Magic vehicle at Langthabal Ningombam Leikai area. He was rushed to RIMS hospital Lamphelpat, where he succumbed to his injury, added sources.
Sources continued that post mortem of the body has already been completed at RIMS. However family members refused to accept it, demanding the arrest of the Tata Magic driver involved in the accident.
In a separate accident, Bir Bahadur Limbu alias Biru, 27, son of Sher Bahadur, from Naoshanti Nekhute, Nepali Basti Assam, presently staying at Kanglatombi, died in a motor accident yesterday.
Sources said Bir was driving a Maruti Van, registration No: AS15D – 2508, when it met an accident near Kanglatombi mandir under Sekmai Police Station at around 4:30 pm.
Bir was rushed to Raj Medicity at North AOC Imphal, he however breathed his last at around 8 pm in the same hospital, the sources added.
