Bomb found planted at Indo-Myanmar border gate

MOREH, December 19: A team of bomb disposal squad led by Inspector Rajen of Manipur Police from Imphal has safely disposed a bomb at the Gate No. 2 of the border town of Moreh this afternoon.

The area was cordoned off by the security forces as soon as the explosive was detected early morning to prevent any mishap in and around the Gate No 2 area, near the 9 Assam Rifles check post.

Additional SP and SDPO of Moreh Police rushed to the area to take stock of the situation. The police officials had to call the bomb disposal squad from the Imphal station, which reached Moreh at around 2:20pm.

Normal life was disrupted in the border area with the border gates remaining closed and business establishment shutting down because of security reasons. According to the police, the bomb was packed inside a cardboard box along with one Chinese grenade, two rocket propelled grenades and high quality detonators.
