LAMKA, January 22: A powerful bomb exploded this early morning at around 5:40 am at Churachandpur Mini Secretariat Complex, Tuibuang, Tiddim Road.

The impact of the blast could be felt even from a distance of one to two kilometres away from the blast site.

People who resided at a distance of 20 to 25 meters away from the blast site said that they were woken by the sound of the blast. The splinters of the bomb fell on their tin roof like hail falling on the roof.

Till the filing of this report a police team had just arrived.

As of now, no FIR has been registered and also no one has claim responsibility of the blast.

However the people of the area suspected outsiders hand in the blast.

The blast seems to aim at creating panic but not to inflict deaths or injury as the place is now virtually deserted with the Assam Rifles post which used to station near there had moved up a distance from the place.

It is also speculated that the blast could be in connection with the Republic day celebration as many valley based UG groups are against the celebration.

However nothing concrete could be said as of now as investigation is going on.

Meanwhile, the Kuki Student Organisation, (KSO) Churachandpur has in a press statement signed by its information and publicity secretary L Minlal said that KSO strongly condemned the act and term it an act of cowardice.

It is insane and inhuman and also an act of terrorism to explode bomb in residential areas, it said.

The KSO has also urged the authority concerned to setup mechanisms as well as tighten the security measure to prevent from such incidents in the future.
