”The Japanese Foreign Minister, following his meetings with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, was quoted as saying in media reports that Arunachal Pradesh, which China has claims on, was “an Indian territory which is disputed by China”. He was also, at the same time, quoted as saying that Japan, which has pledged support for infrastructure projects in the North-East, had no plans to invest the State.

China on Monday slammed Kishida’s remarks. “China has taken note of such report[s],  we are seriously concerned about this and have lodged serious representation with the Japanese side, asking Japan to make clarification and immediately  remove negative implications arising from this,” Foreign Minister spokesperson Hong Lei told a regular press briefing in response to a question raised by Chinese State media about Kishida’s remarks.”
