IMPHAL, Jan 10: In a bizarre incident, a man was hit by a bullet inside his own residential courtyard today and was rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
Although the bullet is believed to be a stray one, police are investigating as to whether the bullet was aimed at him or whether he was an accidental victim, informed sources.
The man said to be in his early 60`™s was sunning in his courtyard around 2 pm when the bullet hit him on his left shoulder.
Police sources identified the man as Laishram Rajen Singh of Singjamei Liwa Lambi Maibam Leikai under Singjamei Police Station working as a section officer at the NEC-II.
Doctors at the RIMS have extracted the bullet projectile which was lodged in his body and he is said to be out of danger.
