Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress attacks BJP for being `anti-farmer`

IMPHAL, January 14: The Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee is against the anti-farmer policy ordinance of the seven-month long NDA government said MPYCC president Amir Hussen today.

Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Congress Bhawan, he said the Pradesh Youth Committee of the Congress has submitted a memorandum to the MPs of the State not to support the ordinance.

He said a similar memorandum will be submitted to district magistrates on January 25 and a team of the PYC will meet the Chief Minister seeking support on the issue.

He continued that the present NDA government has replaced the Land acquisition rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 passed in 2013 during the UPA government with the land acquisition law of the British period.

He said that National Youth Congress had resolved on January 12 the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda that it will launch a nationwide farmer`™s agitation and not remain silent on the issue.

The ordinance will enable acquisition of arable farm lands for setting up industries, he said before expressing that if it is passed than the farmers will lose all their agricultural lands to private companies in a short period.

Such ordinance which is against the farmer and tribal was declared as a `Black Ordinance`™ by the newly elected president of the All India Youth Congress Committee Asvinder Singh he said.

He said the BJP government is trying to take away land from the farmers on gun-point.
