IMPHAL, February 12: An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police was killed in a road mishap last night along the Uripok-Kancghup road in Imphal West district.
The victim has been identified as one Yumnam Saratchandra Singh, 44, son of Y Babu Singh of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai, officer incharge of Iroisemba police outpost.
Reports said that Saratchandra`™s motorcycle (MN06S-8628) came into head on collision with Honda active moped (MN01V-7304) around 8 near Samusang culvert along Uripok-Kangchup road.
In the collision, Saratchandra was thrown out of his bike and later run over by another vehicle (MN01B-4582) killing him.
While a case has been registered by the police, the lifeless body of the deceased has been handed over to his family after post mortem examination.
