IMPHAL, Feb 22: Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended an individual along with contraband drugs at Khudengthabi post of Chandel district on February 20.
According to a release of IGAR (S), a suspected vehicle, bearing Registration Number WB 02X 7136 travelling from Imphal to Moreh was stopped for checking, and on a thorough search of the vehicle led to recovery of 2.770 Kgs Ganja worth Rs 1,38,500/-, one mobile phone, one Voter card, and a Driving license.
The apprehended person has been identified as Suren Joy Singh (driver of the vehicle), S/o Amuba Singh, 26, a resident of village Mayang, PO/PS- Mayang, District Imphal West.
He along with the recovered items has been handed over to the Tengnoupal Police Station, it added.
