Commemoration Function of Anal scripts founders held at Chandel

IMPHAL, March, 15: Delighted over the progress and development the Anal Literature Society (ALS) in bringing out their own language script for study under BOSEM, Chief Secretary of Manipur PC Lawmkunga, IAS expressed hope that Anal Text Books for Classes I-X would be very soon approved.

Such an achievement will be another befitting occasion for officially celebration here in Chandel or Imphal, he added.

The Chief Secretary said this while speaking as chief guest of the commemoration function of Anal Zoo (scripts) founders which was organised by ANTA together with the Anal Literature Society at District Sports Complex, Chandel on March 14.

Lawmkunga informed the gathering that the memorandum received from the Anal Literature Society for recognition of the language have been place in the Cabinet section for consideration and further assured that he would remind the CM for consideration during the next Cabinet meeting.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by Chandel Naga People`™s Organisation that sought the Chief Secretary`™s intervention on absence of a full-fledged District Transport Office in Chandel as well as non-opening of PHED office along with its staffs and engineers, Lawmkunga expressed surprise on the matters as such he requested the local MLA to put some more efforts to make it happen. At the same time he assured his help in setting up the same as early as possible.

With regards to the PHED he also said that he would look into the matters so that officials are posted and the office open as early as possible.

The State Education (S) Secretary, H Deleep Singh, IAS who attended the gathering as president, speaking on the occasion said that it is vital to inculcate knowledge and basic minimum level of learning Mother tongue.

Appreciating the works of the society, the education secretary maintained that the momentum pushed by the society must be continued and remarked `from the perspective of education the society has been doing the right thing in the right time.`

He also highlighted the education department`™s and the govt`™s commitment to cater to the existing diversity of the State which according to him is a challenge that would never be given up.

Dwelling on the text books due for release, the Education Secretary clarified the process during which he said once the Cabinet gives recognition to the script, BOSEM will perform objective analysis that included scrutiny of the contents, standards, harmony and other requirements under the guidelines of various authorities.

Chief host of the function St Nunghlung Victor, MLA 41 A/c Chandel also spoke during the function. In addition, Chandel DC Robert Singh Khetrimayum, Secretary of BOSEM Dr. Chinganbam Sarat as well as COHSEM Secretary Sarangajit Khundrakpam who attended the function as Guest of Honour and special invitees respectively also spoke on the occasion.

Chairman of Anal Literature Society L Wolring in his recapitulation of the Anal Text Book Class I-X, following a welcome and key note address by the president of Anal Naga Tangpi Wng Kohring Victor, presented a brief report of the society that indicate the works and activities of the society.

According to the report, the formation of the Anal Literature Society dates back to 1934, the journey that started after the Anal scripts was introduced by late NL. Volhnung. L Wolring in his report quoted two Anal gentleman namely late Bs Thurnung of Anal Khullen and KC Mono of Darchor village, who conceived the idea of literature for the first time in the year 1913.

PC Lawmkunga unveiled a monument bearing the names of eleven founders and others, erected in their memory at Anal Tangpi Sejam Complex following a dignitaries reception feast hosted at the residence of Special Contractor HL Lovingson Anal.

Obituary references to the departed souls of the script`™s founders, presentation to relatives of the founders, dignitaries, hymns sung by different church choirs, cultural dance display were the main highlights of the day.

Representatives of various CSOs including CNPO, ANTA, ASR, ALT, ACA, NWUC, Chiefs, Pastors, District Govt officials including SP Chandel E Priyokumar IPS, CO of 8th MR Ibotombi Singh and others attended the grand daylong function.
